Can We Go Back In Time ?
Is a beautiful Wednesday, and I'm happy as usual. Started with playing my cool RnB's as early as 5am, danced all through in the shower, dressed up, prayed and I left for work.
Meanwhile I've been trying to understand how our parents and grandparents coped without phones. Technology does not seem to have or be coming to a halt, rather it keeps improving. I mean it's good but I think it has made a lot of things that seem to be fun loose its value.
I wasn't there in the 80's or early 90's but I just met with an aged friend and when I started to sing "stuck on you" by Lionel Richie he was amazed and was like wow your dad taught you this song? Lol, I said yeah he used to play it a lot while growing up. And then I told him that's the songs they used to toast our mothers then, he laughed and we had a good conversation.
I've come to realise that technology especially our phones has made a lot of things easier but also took away the fun of it. Like who still writes a love letter and sprays a parfum on it and then gets appreciated for the little gesture? Infact I think a lot of us have a bad handwriting this days because we don't write love letters again, lol ask me why? Well I think from my father's love letters I found from way back I can say that when our parents wrote love letters to each other the tried very well to have the best handwriting as that will sell them off quickly and get the counterpart interest easily. With that way they were constantly improving in their hand writing and also in their vocabulary because they always had a big dictionary right beside them to look for big words that could fit right into their emotions. Then toasting a lady was a big task as I was told and as lady when you remember how much effort your man made just to say "hi" or even "how are you" you will appreciate him or as a man if you remember how much efforts you made to make a woman yours you will not want to easily throw the relationship away. Who still gets appreciated for gifting a card on birthdays, Valentine or Christmas? No one I guess. Human hairs, iPhones and money are the order of the day 😊.
I also think that technology has also aided infidelity in relationships and marriage now, because men and women are now within reach just get their number or social media handle and you are good to go🤦🏾♀️.
Basically everything is done with our phones now that's why it's a bit addicting for my generation. A lot of people can't do without their phones or without internet again. Infact our happiness is channeled to the internet. No time for quiet time or meditation or to restrategize for the future again, no time to even know and understand yourself better but we are quick to ask on social media "can I know you better 😆"
Somedays I just put off all my social media accounts, most times I disconnect my line as well Just so I can enjoy my own company. I may play music all day, or watch movies or maybe try learning a new skill or A new hobby.
I believe everything good also has a bad side but I think we all shouldn't let our phones take the better side of us. Infact my father will always tell me use your phone for productive purposes only.
I know life is not that serious but is also not that unserious. Let's learn to balance because I still want to receive love letters, flowers , and cards instead of a constructed Christmas tree text message 🤣🤣🤣.
Cheers to the rest of a beautiful week.
See you some other day
